Working individuals often envy their cats. How could we not? As we set our alarms for an ungodly hour, we rise from our warm beds and into the cold, dark world (Side note: how is it still dark at 6:30 AM?!). Schlepping our work clothes on and gulping down a hot cup of mediocre coffee, the workforce populous dreams of the moment they'll return home from their shift to the cozy hearth of a happy home.
You know who never has to be forced from the comfort of their warm, soft bed? Cats.
Those feisty little freeloaders have their bills paid by the hardworking humans in their lives, and we're the ones dragging ourselves to work every day to fuel their lavish lifestyle. They have buffet-style meals 2x a day, premium, ergonomic cat beds, and a never-ending birdy TV special playing as they gaze out the back window. Life is so good if you're a beloved house cat.
Alas, it's good to be an adored feline in the home of a cat lover, because you'll always have your needs met. Humans love their pets with such fervor and passion that they'll buy the prescription IBS cat food and they will take on overtime shifts to afford their cat's expensive monthly toy subscription. No matter how silly it feels to dote on our furry felines, we love our cats and want them to live a life of a rambunctious kitten as long as possible, willing them to remain a purrmanent fixture of our home.
So when we jet off to work, running late as usual, and our cat heaves a heavy sigh of premium kitty comfort from the pillows on the couch, just know that you're doing all of this so that their toe beans remain unmuddled, their blankets remain fluffed, and their cat tree (expensive as it may be), remained completely untouched by your unadventurous cat. Because at the end of the day, humans and cats alike just want to come back to the comfort of their very own cardboard box, relishing the security of a purrfectly cozy hideaway.
