Winter blues are inevitable. January is the month that you forget about in the thick of the holiday season, and it isn't until you wake up on December 26th that you realize there is a long, brutal winter ahead. You might love a good snow angel or snowball fight in moderation, but you can't take the sun setting before 5 PM. That's a December thing, not a January thing. But it is a January thing, you just convinced yourself otherwise in a fit of hopeful pawsitivity.
This is all to say that you must find the pawsitivity in other moments, whether that be in your real life or online. If you're a pet owner, which we're sure you are, consider spending some extra downtime with your fuzzy friends. They are always down for a cuddle (unless you have an animal akin to my tuxedo cat), and they will always make sure you're feeling alright. If that's not something attainable for you, consider scrolling through the cute websites with the most wholesome animal content… Cough, cough…
I remember just last week, I had woken up with the January scaries in a fit of realization that work was starting up again. Nobody wants to get out of bed in this weather! Then, my cat nudged my hand to prompt my gentle pets he loves so dearly, and then, I remembered who I do it all for. Who is going to fund his Churu budget if I'm not bringing home the biscuits?!
At the end of the day, winter is all about taking life a bit more slowly. In order to embrace the winter, you need to become the winter, or, rather, winter's opposite. Stay cozy, stay warm. It's the only way to make it through these winter months with a smile, and we all know how much you animal lovers pawdore a good chuckle.
