'I just wanted my name cleared': Logistics employee secretly edited a report to pin the blame of a missed shipment on his manager, manager reports him to HR, he is fired after they discover he has also been doing this to other coworkers

Having to deal with a coworker who takes credit for your achievements is one thing, but having a coworker actually edit your work to make you look utterly incompetent is a whole different ball game! But yet, it seems like some people are still willing to play the game…but without consequences? We're not entirely sure…

Unless you're a certified criminal, it's pretty unlikely that you'll get away with any major deceit in the workplace without leaving some sort of trace behind…So if you're trying to throw others under the bus and ensure you're left looking unscathed, at least ensure you know how to use Excel! Or at least have enough knowledge to know that it says when and who last edited a document…Otherwise, you'll end up like this logistics employee, terminated and feeling extremely ignorant!

This manager is left feeling mortified as his job is put on the line after being blamed for messing up a major order at the warehouse. His boss calls him in and demands why in the world the report of the shipment had data that would evidently lead to the shipment's failure…But when the manager accessed the document, he knew he did not enter that data…And after taking a closer look, he discovered that his coworker had taken it upon himself to change all the data, as proved by the last edited section of the report. An attempt to make this manager look incompetent, while he looked like the white knight coming to save the day. In an attempt to clear his name and expose his coworker, the situation began reaching new heights…and new coworkers!

This is exactly why HR was established in the first place. To help employees avoid any unwanted awkwardness and place their issues with the experts. In doing so, they may uncover information you didn't even know existed, or a mutual complaint between many coworkers that you thought was unique to you. So if you ever feel like a coworker is trying to sabotage your work, especially when you have the receipts to prove it, going to HR is 99% of the time the right answer…Who knows, perhaps it's an issue that could be resolved, benefiting both employees…and if not, at least anyone who was being dishonest will learn why that may not be the best idea!
