If we had a purrsonal spot in front of the fireplace, we wouldn't leave either. Feral cats are the ones that deserve the most pampering because they've had life the ruffest. They had to hunt for every meal and would sometimes go hungry. They were never able to sleep soundly for fear of predators from every unknown sound. They never got any medical treatment if they were injured somehow, they just had to survive. Nobody is at their best self when they're simply surviving.

Sometimes, feral cats are the ones that make the biggest transformations. They go from these hard, temperamental, instinctual cats to soft, squishy cuddle bugs. But other times, their life outdoors never fully leaves them. We adopted a cat who had been living on the street, seemingly feral, and she's still nervous of life in general. She's shy around people, doesn't love other cats, and generally likes to be on her own. We don't take it purrsonally, though, she must have had a tough life. Simply seeing her at peace while she sleeps is good enough fur us.
