    'Cat butlering is hard work': Person buys hamster wheel for their cat, but hilariously, she refuses to use her single orange braincell to learn how to use it on her own and screams until her human does it for her

    Cats are smarter than they make us think they are. That is something that we have learned the hard way over our time as cat owners. We did not grow up with cats in the house. We did not know. We were not warned of just how mischievous and cunning they are. We learned that when our cats started stealing our socks and hiding them in random places. We learned that when our cats decided the best place to nap is right on our puzzle, because it just gets the biggest reaction from us. We learned that when we realized that our cats zoom across our faces in the middle of the night not on accident, but because they know that it will wake us up and increase their chances of being fed in the middle of the night. 

    So, we say this with an honest heart, when we tell you that you should have known something like this would happen. When you bought this hamster wheel for your cat - so that the cat could entertain itself, so that it wouldn't be another task for you, so that the cat could release its energy in a fun way… you couldn't have known how the cat would turn this around on you, but you should have known it would happen.

      i got my cat one of those giant hamster wheel things so she could entertain herself then i showed her how it worked by putting her on it and spinning it slowly then faster then as fast as possible.

      and the good news is that she looooves her wheel. she just loooves being a hamster cat. but the bad news is that she doesn't know how to use it solo so she will sit by it and scream until i spin the wheel for her.

      and if i dont go fast enough shell scream some more. so im hunched over this big wooden wheel turning it like igor and my cat is running so fast that shes panting like a dog and if I slow down even a little she'll go MEEEOOOWWWWW and i frankly think I need to join a union or something. that bingus has no respect for me.

      not exaggerating the scream thing either. my roommate sent me pictures of my wretched bingus yesterday and, as you can see, she puts her whole face into it. her body contracts like an accordion. she yells so hard that her ass gets two inches closer to her face.

    • This is one of those cat things that are just so cat in their nature that we are not even surprised. Of course this would happen. Why would it not happen? Why would this cat actually use its own energy to make the wheel turn when there is a purrfectly acceptable human butler who can do it for them? It is just so much easier that way, and really, we appreciate the determination that this kitty has for the task at hand. Scream, kitty, unfortunately screaming as a cat always seems to work.

      Erikatze My cat loves when we throw her toys for her and then get up to retrieve it ourselves. She takes great pleasure in bossing her jesters around. She also enjoys laying underneath blankets and will yell at you until you drape one over her or create a little blanket fort for her to relax in. I love her so much.

    • It's the fact that they know that screaming will get them what they want, no matter how random it might be, that we find the most hilarious. They just scream. They have no way of telling us what they want. They just scream until they get what they want, no matter how long it takes, and then one of two things happens: either their silly humans figure it out and the kitties quiet down, or we don't, and the screaming never ever stops ever. It's hilarious. And we love them for it.

      Other-Cantaloupe4765 My cat just taught himself how to fetch because he realized that I wasn't gonna get up and get the scrunchie every two seconds after I pinged it across the room. So now I ping it across the room and he runs, picks it up, brings it back to me, and eagerly waits for me to ping it again Imao.

      I was shocked the first time he did it! I never even taught him- he just figured it out himself. Unfortunately his favorite time to play this game is 2am when I'm in bed. He drops a cold, slobbery scrunchie on me at 2am and then pokes at my face until I ping it.

      Nickel5 We got one of those for our fat cats and gave them treats as a reward for using them, which we then transitioned to giving them attention and praise as a reward. They don't use the wheel to exercise, but when they want attention they get on the wheel and howl. To them, it's an attention wheel.

      Historical-Gap-7084 I read something similar to this several years ago, but the difference was, they discovered that their cat knew how to use the hamster wheel by itself and used it often when human was at work, but when human was at home, the kitty wanted "help" with it.
