One thing that is truly wild in this collection of cute cattos is the amount of cats who go through eye color changes throughout their life. While we might expect cats to experience changes in their fur, much like we experience changes to our hair. It is in fact their eye color that changes with time. While they are named after the British, these cats are not actually of British descent, but were brought there by the Romans of yore. Through time they gained popularity for their characteristic chubby cheeks and cute smile, but were almost wiped out in the 1940s. Thankfully, the species was saved when food shortages stopped in Britain, and we got to keep our cute and cuddly pals.
