Rejection is never easy. You can get used to it over time, but it doesn't always soften the blow. Nobody likes to feel like they aren't wanted. This is why job applications can be so disheartening. You have to face rejection way more often than you face success. You work yourself up to put yourself out there time and time again, rarely to be rewarded for it. It can start to feel like an indictment on your worth as a worker or even as a human being. You know this isn't true deep down, but it's hard not to get caught up in it nonetheless. This is why it's important for employers to do everything they can to help mitigate this in the hiring process.

The process of getting a job somewhere is difficult enough as it is, without all the rigmarole and jumping through hoops that employers sometimes try to put us through. You likely know somebody with all kinds of stories about looking for jobs. Nobody likes to feel like they're being jerked around, but we often end up in that position anyway. Even though the company is in need of somebody, and they might just be in need of you, it always feels like they have the upper hand. It can feel like you have to put up with everything they want to throw your way just because you're looking for a job. It's a horrible feeling.
