Even if they did have a reason, it would not be understandable to your puny hooman brain. Purrhaps this lamp gave off a bad vibe, purrhaps it was in the cat's spot and they decided to pass judgment on it, or purrhaps they just felt like it. But when a "Felis Flooficus Peculiaris" wants something, they will stop at nothing to get it. Nothing will stand in their way, not even your antique lamp.

"Felis Flooficus Peculiaris" is very nosy. They must know anything and everything that happens in their territory and its surroundings. They must track the meowvements of the birds, the squirrels, and of course, all those pesky doggos that walk by. They must be up to date on all the neighborhood gossip to report back to the mothership. You'll know they're making or receiving a transmission when they randomly space out for around 30 seconds, then come back with a burst of zoomies.
