'The best kind of redemption story': Kind human rescues 5-week-old kitten abandoned from a moving vehicle, they adopt him and turn him into their purrfect prince

You know what they say: one man's kitten is another man's treasure.

Did you know that around 3 million cats enter shelters in the US every year? Not all of these are strays, of course; some are taken in by their owners, but still. We don't have any accurate figures for how many cats are abandoned each year because it's nearly impawssible to count, but the number is probably greater than you imagine.

With the number of people who discard kittens like garbage, we're starting to think that most of the world is made up of garbage people. Who could dump something so purrfectly smol, innocent, and adorable? It seems inhumane to us, but luckily, the Cat Distribution System seems to pick up where these awful people left off - for every purrson willing to discard them like trash, there's one purrson who will treat them like treasure.

A family found this cute kitty below when he was only 5-weeks-old. He was tossed from the window of a van into their neighborhood, and they swept in and took him home. Apparently, he was a "spoiled floof from the very beginning", and that's purrfectly fine with us. Nothing deserves that kind of cruelty in general. We live in a world where people feel safe to be mean by hiding behind computer and phone screens, and this seeps into everyday life. That kitten they discarded was a living, breathing thing. They could have just as easily taken it to a shelter, or posted on Facebook to find it a foster home, but they chose the worst way out pawssible. People today are too comfortable with hurting others because they feel they can get away with it.

This is one of the reasons we chose not to go to vet school - as much as we love animals (and we love animals), we couldn't handle the human side of it. The fact that most of your job is dealing with people mistreating their animals, or doing your best to help animals in need, but only being able to do so much. If you can handle that burden, more power to you; we simply don't have the strength.
