We thought we knew everything about training dogs since we grew up with at least three dogs in our house at all times. But, when we adopted our first one as an adult, we quickly learned how blissfully unprepared we were. We had to throw everything in the garbage and start from zero. It was a learning experience for us, and for our doggo, but we came out like pawfect experts. A lot of it was trial and error, and with some help from pawfessionals, we got a great doggo who listens to us, respects us, and loves us!

Training a dog isn't something that's universally understood (if it were, there wouldn't be nearly as many dog trainers). One of the biggest mistakes we made was not exposing them to enough things when they were young. Our girl developed some pretty gnarly fears because, as she got older, she wasn't prepared for them. Next dog, we won't make the same mistake.

Stubborn dogs 100% exist - we have one! She's just very strong-willed - we had to learn to work with her. Communication is a two-way street, and her opinions deserve to be heard. It doesn't mean we have to follow them, but we at least have to hear them out.
