Yes, it's winter. But does that mean everything we do and consume has to be cold and cozy related? What about dreaming of clear blue skies, bright sunny days, and wading in the pool water like an otter wades in a river? Otters are more than fascinating – they're simply adorable, and smart at the same time. Otters hold hands while sleeping, who would have thought! Sea otters often float on their backs and hold paws so they don't drift away from each other, it's called rafting and we should all learn a thing or two from otters.
Otters also have a favorite rock! What can be cuter than that? And it may seem obvious by the fact that they build dams and are environmentally attuned to their surroundings, but they do a myriad of things to help their local ecosystem, such as eating sea urchins, which helps protect kelp forests, which in turn support tons of marine life. Cute and environmentally important? Unfair advantage. Though they eat an enormous amount of food, they're actually really strong swimmers! And their fur is basically waterproof so they don't get bogged down by swimming all day. So enjoy this otter appreciation post.
