The niece laughs, because how else do you react when someone tries to rewrite history for a tax credit? The aunt doesn't laugh back. She insists they were inseparable, which is a bold claim to make about a kid you left at eight years old. When the niece refuses to lie, the aunt goes full soap opera, storming out and reporting to the family chat that she's been betrayed by kin.
