A management role is hardly smooth sailing, and oftentimes requires a lot of awkward conversations and demanding decisions…Management is not always there to be your bestie, but rather for the benefit of the company. So if you have a manager who cares for you deeply, it's best you show up for them and hold onto them tightly…because if you don't, they will pick favorites!

However, when those managers do choose, they should be sure to have valid reasons…Unless they want to end up like this manager, who's recently received a bucket of backlash from HR, accusing him of "unfairly" reviewing and providing raises to his team members… One, a hard-working single mom who completes her work precisely, but holds strict boundaries on flexibility…and the other, a man who's not so flexibility-specific, willing to work after-hours and weekends (unpaid) just for that extra CEO hallway-half-hearted smile. So when it comes to employee reviews and pay raises, her male coworker is soaring above her while she waits for take off…yet it just never seems to happen for her.
