Small town Oregon dad and his 17-year-old son rescue an elderly woman's escaped dog and fix her broken gate latch when she's too feeble, restoring faith in humanity: 'Good people are everywhere'

Dogs could have a household full of unconditional love, food in their bowl, and a warm bed in the living room, and they'll still make a mad dash for the front door if it's slightly ajar. Leaving behind their earthly belongings, dogs will bolt outside, sprinting at full speed with their tails tucked under. With the wind in their fur and a frothy taste of freedom, these heartfelt pups are forgetting something… Their loving humans are at home! Oftentimes, dogs will escape into the unknown and forget how to get back, so it's up to us (and our neighbors) to get them home safely. 

When you reach a certain age, however, it gets tougher and tougher to chase down your lively pooch. A 67-year-old woman in a small town in Oregon recently lost her dog when the pup realized how to open the garden latch. Clever enough to escape, but not clever enough to find his way home again, the senior woman set after the dog, but it cost her greatly in her physical ability. Her neighbors, a man and his son, luckily stepped up to help, and the trio was able to wrangle the dog again. 

If it weren't for that pesky broken fence, he'd never get out again. So the neighbors kindly fixed the gate, free of charge. We seldom get to witness of true selflessness and wholesome neighborly acts, but this tale of a woman and her dog really brought the whole town together, and melted our hearts at the same time.
