Son writes a poem about his late mom for school, then discovers his teacher sent it to his stepmom thinking it's about her, stepmom demands he apologize: ‘She got her hopes up’

Does it surprise you that many teachers don't even bother to read their students' homework assignments?

We didn't think so.

But that still didn't prepare us to read about the family dispute that the teachers in the story below caused simply because they didn't pay enough attention to a student's assignments. This student lost his mom when he was 6 years old, and twice since then, his teachers confused his stepmom for his real mom. Once, when one teacher sent the stepmom the Mother's Day essay the student wrote for his late mom, and another when a second teacher did the same thing with a poem.

Two teachers who clearly didn't read the assignment before they sent it to the wrong mom. A mom, mind you, who for years has ignored her stepson's wishes to not address her as mom, and that has some sort of jealousy for the late mother. A "mom" who got very angry when she read her stepson's school assignments and realized they were not about her.

A “mom” who then demanded her stepson apologize for hurting her feelings, even though it was definitely not his fault…
