When we were kids, our dad would wait until the very last minute to turn on the heating in the house. We may or may not be guilty of this. We usually make our pies every year, but sometimes, you just don't have a free 8 hours to make a few pies by hand. It's a lot of work! You have to make the dough, chill the dough, pre-bake the crust, make the filling, then bake the actual pie, and then rinse/repeat that for every other pie you make. It's a full-time job!
