Rescue dogs always forget where they came from. After eating a fresh bowl of gourmet kibs and cozying up to the heating pad blanket, dogs lie their heads on that special $40 ergonomic pillow you bought. Like their lives are so tough, dogs heave the loudest, most exasperated sigh you've ever heard before taking a glorious, luxurious nap. What a life, right?
They have forgotten how they were found in a box on the side of the road, covered in mud and mites, eating tree braches to fill their empty tummies before their beloved humans arrive. Rescue dogs all have some insane rags-to-riches story, but they're happy to forget the rags portion. Glad to move on from their pre-human existence, dogs embrace their new and plushy lives, happily rolling on their backs and letting the humans tummy-scratch their problems away.
Perhaps life could be so simple for us humans as well. Canine lovers, I encourage you to embrace the life of luxury that your dog has. Feed yourself something delicious, schedule that doctor's appointment, wash your outside feet, and cuddle up on the couch. You earned it.
