    Owning a computer in the 90s wasn't just about using technology - it was about waiting. A lot of waiting. You waited for your computer to boot up, for programs to load, and for the diskette drive to make its telltale grinding sounds. Getting on the internet was an event in itself: waiting for the modem to connect (and praying no one picked up the phone), waiting for web pages to load line by painstaking line, and waiting entire nights for a single song to download. If you were feeling ambitious and wanted a movie or a game? That could take days - if you had a download manager to save your progress whenever the connection inevitably dropped.

    Today, everything is instant. Our apps, movies, and games are either pre-installed or stored in the cloud, and we can barely handle waiting a few seconds for anything. But back then, the waiting was part of the experience - it taught us patience (or at least gave us plenty of time to work on it).
