15+ Petty HOA rules that left home owners baffled: '[They're] not allowing vehicles... to be parked in the driveway for more than 24 hours'

These HOAs have some truly ridiculous rules — just ask the residents who have to abide by them, or face steep fines! 

HOAs are known for having totally ridiculous rulebooks full of "gotchas." They love to snag residents with little infractions that can add up over time, netting the HOA lots of money, while infuriating the residents. But some HOAs truly take it too far, as you can read about down below. 

One person discovered that for some reason, the HOA enforced a rule stating that no one can park their cars in their own driveways for more than 24 hours. That's just so insane! Why even have a driveway if you can't park in it now and then? That's irritating, but some people had HOAs that were quite literally invasive. Just ask the dude who had to get his neighbors' say on his choice of flooring before installation. That's right: the 2 next-door neighbors had to approve their floors. Uh… why would that ever be your neighbor's business? 

Perhaps the most egrigious story told here, though, is the HOA that banned dogs from riding in the elevators. The dogs couldn't hold it in, and kept making messes in the elevator, which is understandably a problem to be solved. However, this rule even applied to someone with a service dog. This person physically couldn't take the stairs, and wound up with $45k in fines! It's so ridiculous, but at least their case had a fantastic ending, which you can read all about down below.
