Top performing sales employee caught scamming the internal employee rewards system, pocketing an extra $20 that costs them their job: 'Internal theft is internal theft'

Managers love it when they have an all-star employee they can count on. Suddenly, they're not shouldering every responsibility in the workplace and can lean on their top performers, counting on them to pick up the slack when needed. However, this manager was disappointed to learn that their top employee was picking up more than just the slack in the workload; they were picking up an extra few bucks in the employee rewards system, scamming the company out of chump change during their break hour. 

As unsettling as it is to be blatantly pickpocketed, it must also be a violation to look into your company's POS system to find that one employee in particular has been stealing, especially if it was someone you trusted. Faced with a tough decision, this manager ultimately decided that they didn't want to have a thief in their ranks, even if it was just over a meager $20. Once you break the trust with management, it's hard to come back from that, even if you are an all-star salesperson.
