    'How will we be able to support the baby?': Pregnant wife considers leaving husband when he gives his job an ultimatum, his family turns on her for her decision

    Life isn't what it used to be. These days it can take an arm and a leg to raise and support a child. When the cost of an egg is akin to a high-end caviar, you know we're in trouble. Take the couple in the story below. The protagonist is a woman who's pregnant with her first child. She and her husband couldn't be happier, but there are some financial and logistic caveats at play. She was recently fired from her job, so not only is she in the process of trying to find a new one, but she wouldn't even be able to start working for a little bit, certainly not until many months or a year after the baby is born. Her husband is supposed to be the breadwinner, and he's been at his company for a while but hates his job. 

    Push comes to shove in their relationship when he tells her that he's going to demand different things from his company or else he's quitting. She takes it hard, because if neither of them have a job, then they won't be able to support their baby.
