We should always be able to trust our family members, but a story now and then will teach us that family isn't always something we can rely on.
Money and riches can make people do crazy things, so much so that they commit crimes at the expense of their family members. Too often, we are taught that we are supposed to respect our elders and "whatever I say goes" types. Younger generations were taught that they should allow others to walk all over them, emotionally and monetarily, because they don't deserve the same level of respect. In this story's case, this has everything to do with the way a now-adult child's family heirlooms get ripped from them by a stepfamily member under the guise of keeping the heirloom "safe".
This story teaches us, unfortunately, to remain wary of anyone whom we think might even slightly be looking to benefit from doing us wrong. The stepmom in the story below holds onto her stepson's gold rings, passed down to him by his grandma, only to refuse to give them back to him and later offers him cheaper rings. The stepson's biological father refuses to do anything about it, and now his sibling is reaching out to the internet to ask for legal recourse. Scroll to read the full story.
