The debate over whether Harry Potter is a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie has been around since the movies first came out.

Personally, while I don't really need to tie the movies to a specific season or holiday, since I watch them whenever I feel like it, I still see both sides of this argument.

There are plenty of spooky elements to the series that match the Halloween vibes: werewolves, ghosts, mystery, and magic are all elements that make the perfect Halloween movie. If you put in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban while we're having a cozy fall friends night, that would totally match the spooky atmosphere. 

On the other hand, magical castles in the snow, Christmas feasts, gifts, and decorations are all elements that constantly appear in the movies. Christmas time is part of the plot in many of the movies, and plays an important part in the Harry Potter experience.
