5-year-old “ugly” rescue dog finally gets adopted by his forever family, who find out that he's actually a rare Chimera Dog with two sets of DNA: ‘He is his own twin’

A lot of people have pawsonal preferences when it comes to doggos: some like small dogs, some like dogs with heads bigger than theirs (guilty), some like really fluffy dogs, others with short hair, but us? We think all dogs are beautiful. No matter if they're a squiggly sausage dog or a giant great dane, no matter if they are tiny puppies or sassy seniors who are mostly gray, they're all beautiful to us. In fact, we have a habit of adopting the "ugly" dogs, because if we don't choose them, who will? All dogs deserve a good home, even if they aren't majestic golden retrievers or loving labradors. And those "ugly" dogs, in our experience, are usually the most loving.

Turns out we're not the only ones who have a soft spot for the doggos that get left behind, because one family decided to adopt 'Frankie', the 5-year-old pupper below, who was rescued and sent to a shelter, where he was passed by many times because of his peculiar look. Now, Frankie is living happily in his forever home, but he had a big surprise waiting for his new family! They found out that he is actually a super rare chimera dog, meaning that he has actually two sets of DNA inside of him, which resulted in his pawsitively unique fur pattern. He's a special boy on the inside and out, and we hope he and his family live a doggone beautiful happily ever after.

We've seen a lot of doggos in our time as writers for Animal Comedy, and we've never seen a dog like Frankie. He really does look like a few dogs mashed together, but even still, we can tell that he is a very good boy and is going to be just fine in his new home. Now that we've actually googled “chimera dogs”, we think Frankie is even more beautiful! Chimera dogs are so interesting and unique. It's so cool to see a genetic marvel right in front of your eyes. According to the internet, chimerism in dogs is “extremely rare”, meaning that Frankie is a real diamond in the rough!
