Those memories don't just disintegrate, and now you're forced to watch your brother live out a moment you dreamt of for years. When they said, 'You need to get under someone to get over someone else', we don't think this is what they meant, whoever they might be…

So we completely understand why this brother wants to rip up and stomp on that wedding invitation he just received…and not just because its color combo is orange and brown (ew), but because it holds the initials of his ex-girlfriend of two years and his brother. An engagement he was absolutely blindsided by, not having previously known the pair were even going out! When he tells his parents he doesn't think he could sit through and stomach such an occasion, they claim that he is being selfish and immature, putting a wedge between the family that 'loves him'.

Despite having his whole family against him, he knows that his feelings will not change. So instead of having to compile a very awkward ‘I object’ speech, he'd rather just avoid their whole relationship as a whole. It's already messy enough as it is, even smooching people in the same family is weird, but marrying them…that's something a therapist may give better advice on…and no, definitely not family therapy!
