Divorced dad caught between his teenage boys and his new wife when wife tells him he can't have an amicable relationship with his ex-wife, the boys tell him it will ruin their relationship: 'You're putting her before us'
In the story here, two teenage sons struggle with the aftermath of their parents divorce. The narrator is a 16-year-old with an 18-year-old brother. Their parents have been divorced for 12 years already under the best circumstances a kid could ask for. The parents have a very healthy and amicable relationship, despite getting a divorce. They attend events together, appointments, and are still supporting their kids in the same way they would if they were still married. It's meant a lot to the kids, so when their father informs him that his new wife refuses to allow him and his ex-wife in the same room, it tears the kid's hearts apart.
The teenage sons do their best to try and reason with their father, and try to convince him not to listen to her. Eventually, the family might be more sundered than they already are. These kinds of stories can be so tragic because the father doesn't understand the damage he's doing to the family, and that he will only alienate his children from him.
