Oh, HOAs. Mostly hated, rarely loved. They were created to help keep neighborhoods looking nice and have a community living in peace. However, it has turned into a monster many times over all due to the entitlement and greed of the board members. It's like, once you run an HOA you have the power to do whatever you want! But that is not true, and this homeowner was able to show his HOA exactly that.
It all started because he wanted to have to chairs on his porch so he and his girlfriend could enjoy a nice sunset from time to time. But apparently they weren't allowed to have more than one item on their own porch. So they got fined. How annoying! But the HOA was about to really learn the meaning of annoying. This homeowner went through every single rule and saw that there was nothing about lawn decorations. You were allowed one and that was the only stipulation. So, he set up the most obnoxious 7-foot tall inflatable snow globe lawn decorations that seriously threw that HOA into a tizzy. The HOA not only changed the rules so they could have their chairs after that, they also delivered him a handwritten apology.

Sometimes you can use the rules to your advantage and really stick it to your greedy HOA. Or, just don't move into a place that has an HOA in the first place?
