It's hard to "fake it till you make it" when your throat closes up in a job interview.

We all recall those early years in the workforce when we had next to no experience and desperately needed to be given a chance. We're often taught the so-called "proper ways" to compose ourselves in job interviews, projecting the false idea that we know what we're doing. Of course, none of us do, and years into professional life, most of us are still projecting that idea.

Still, when you're 22 and fresh out of school, the stakes feel incredibly high. You have absolutely no idea how you'll ultimately fare in the working world until you're face-to-face with a hiring manager. Those first few interviews inevitably won't be your best, and hopefully, you'll gain some tools from your mistakes.

However, we'd be lying if we said all of those humiliating experiences were necessary in building character and making us the "professionals" we are today. This author recalled her worst interview, which not only involved her throat completely closing up mid-sentence, but it also ended early after the hiring managers realized she was not going to recover. Yikes!
