Every family has its secrets. Some are bigger than others. Maybe someone has a stock fund of money they're hiding, maybe mom cheated on dad, or maybe your dad isn't even your biological father. All of these things can be so traumatic and difficult to deal with as a person growing up, especially in teenage years and adolescents when everything is already so difficult.
The protagonist in the story here notices that her dad treats her so differently than her 3 other siblings. He will do anything for them, while not giving her any attention or care.
