Eventually, she moved in with her boyfriend to put some distance between herself and the constant childcare expectations. His apartment has a concierge, which means her parents can’t just walk in anymore. But recently, her dad tested that boundary. He showed up at the building with five kids in tow, expecting her to babysit. She told the concierge to call the police if they refused to leave.
Now her parents are blowing up her phone, calling her ungrateful for finally saying no. She admits part of her feels guilty, but she also knows she can’t keep sacrificing her own life to raise her siblings.
