AITA for not bringing my daughter's friend home and making her parents come get her?

Right, it doesn’t really make sense to throw in the towel for a whole birthday trip unless someone is sick or injured.

Not that Leah wasn’t totally bratty about the whole thing, but I suspect she may have felt awkward or uncomfortable and tried to deflect by acting aloof. It’s reminding me of middle and elementary school sleep over experienced where girls bail mid-sleepover because they miss their parents or feel anxious but try to be as nonchalant as possible about it.

Mom refuses to drive whiny 12-year-old daughter's friend Leah back home from NYC just because she's "bored" with birthday activities, the girl's mother trashes her to other moms in retaliation: ‘She just said it was boring’
One of the less savory parts of being a parent is having to host other people's kids. Yes, you want everyone to have fun, but every family also has their own rules, routines, and limits. Sometimes, it's smooth sailing and the your kids' friends fall into your rhythm quite easily while they're over and you barely notice the extra responsibility. Other times, though, one child's contrarian attitude can throw off the whole day.
That's what one mom went through rather recently with her 12-year-old daughter's friend Leah. This mom took a handful of girls to NYC for a birthday excursion, but Leah just complained and moped the whole time. Eventually, she called her parents to pick her up, to which her mom insisted that the host cut the trip short and bring her home. She refused to cancel the whole thing over one pre-teen's bad attitude, and the girl's dad had to drive an hour to get Leah. Now the host mom is facing backlash from Leah's mom in the form of an attempt of social alienation; luckily, no one is falling for it.
