Entitled neighbor befriends HOA president to restrict kids from playing games in the neighborhood, sparking backlash from other residents: 'It violates federal housing law to restrict children from the common areas'

Every neighborhood has that one resident who can't help but become everyone else's enemy.

In this instance, an entitled neighbor decided to enlist the help of her chummy friend (who also happened to be the president of the local homeowner's association) to stop all the kids in the neighborhood from playing soccer in the common areas. This expressly violated rules and regulations as outlined in the HOA handbook, but as is the case with many rules and regulations, they do not seem to matter to folks with influence and a false sense of superiority.

Look, I am not a fan of loud, screaming middle school children running around, but it takes a certain kind of person to try to forbid them from doing so ever. After all, part of adulting is accepting that there will be many infuriating children running around in certain environments, no matter how hard you try to avoid them. 

At the end of the day, there really was not much this woman could get away with, even with the support of her powerful friend. If the kids were playing soccer right on her property, that would be one thing. It would be another thing if she was concerned for their safety, but there were no roads around either. In short, her line of defense simply did not add up. These kids were playing in a field that was deemed to be a recreational part of the neighborhood. In other words, the whole purpose of this area was for activities like this.
