‘It’s my home too': Brothers buy a house together, then after 11 years, the eldest gets married, and tries to kick out his sibling to start a family

A pair of brothers bought a house together, but when the time came for one of them to want the place just to himself, their relationship became rocky. The problem is that they both bought it together: their names are on the mortgage together, they made a down payment together, and they've both lived there for over a decade.

So the question remains. Who gets dibs on a shared home?

The eldest brother with a new wife who wants to start a family of his own? Or the younger brother who doesn't mind their shared living situation? Frankly, in a dispute between simple roommates, it's usually the one who wants a place of their own who's responsible for finding a new place to live, but this older brother felt that he was entitled to kick lil' bro out on the curb, just because he wanted to redecorate his room into a nursery.

At a certain point, the house belongs to them both. Both brothers have spent an equal share of time making this house into a home, so in my opinion, if the oldest wants to get out and start a family, that's his prerogative. However, it's unfair to kick out the youngest—someone happy with their living arrangement—just because you don't want a roommate anymore.
