    Person adopts a blind and paraplegic kitten who was run over and left to fend for himself, nurses him back to health and finds the purrfect home for a special-needs cat like him: 'With a lot of love and care, [his] dignity was restored'

    We don't know if you all know this, but cats love running in random directions at random points throughout the day for no apparent reason. Just like that. Yup. And street cats, unfortunately, are no different when it comes to that. That's one of the reasons they keep running into the middle of the road. It's why you have to be vigilant and stop if a cat runs in front of your car. But even if the worst happens, if you hit a cat, there is still something even worse that you can do, and that is abandoning the injured cat to fend for itself. 

    Mistakes happen. We're human, after all. But part of our humanity should mean that if we see an injured cat - whether it's our doing or not, but especially if it's our doing, then we have to help it. You don't just leave the cat outside to suffer. And that is exactly what happened to this poor baby before he was found and saved.

      It's been a few years, but I still keep track! This boy was found at night meowing a lot in the rain, he was blind and couldn't walk, I brought him inside and with the help of family and friends on the Internet, I managed to take him to the vet.

      It would be easier to say what this boy didn't have, he had an infection in his ears, urine, eyes, dehydration, blod in his bladder. His spine was broken along with some ribs. It was horrible! He had probably been run over and left to fend for himself.

      It was a long road, but with a lot of love and care, Deluca's dignity (the name I gave him) was restored, my house was not adapted for a special kitten and I was not in a position to be his permanent home, but he went to a house with a girl who had experience with special kittens, he can even take a few steps on his own! But he still doesn't control his bowels or bladder. A sweet baby

    • At this point, we want to say that we are surprised, but we are not. Not really. We can only say this: thank you to the person who saved this cat. It's good to be reminded that there are still truly good people out there, doing good, selfless things.

    • It's fair to admit that you are not fit for a cat with special needs. Not everyone is. But instead of abandoning the cat again, you did the right thing - which is find him a home where he could thrive. We can only hope that more people will take your example.

      Wolfiverse OP Record of Deluca supporting his weight for a few seconds! He's incredible, he doesn't even look like the same cat as in the first photos (he had heard something on the street and went to check haha)

      -captn- I always love the gradual change from scraggly poor looking outdoor cat to a pampered and relaxed indoor cat. He's adorable, thank you for helping him find a loving home

      Wolfiverse OP It is very good! I love seeing this change, deluca was the hardest case I've ever had, but her smiling face in the last photo makes it all worth it

      Wolfiverse OP It's heartbreaking, they are in so much pain and can't ask for help. I believe that in Deluca's case, before the accident he was already a very weak cat, he was an old cat (from what my veterinarian told me), despite all these infections and problems, he was not thin, so he probably had an owner, who did a terrible job
