Woman gets even with her mooching roommate by sending her to the bathroom with a special tray of brownies: 'Let's just say karma hit fast'

Any time you move in with someone, regardless of whether or not this is a longtime friend or a total stranger, you need to establish ground rules. Even if it seems silly, it's often for the best. 

This woman had been living with her roommate for a full year before the conditions started to worsen and the tension began to increase. As is often the case, the conflict was related to shared items—well, food, in particular. The roommate would occasionally borrow small things like milk every now and then without asking. That wasn't the issue. In fact, both parties were in mutual agreement that this was fair game. What wasn't fair game was the roommate consuming entire dishes or significant portions of the author's groceries without expressed permission. We're talking about pounds of boneless skinless chicken thighs, people! That was supposed to be dinner for the week!

I never had the guts to perform an act of petty payback like this author did, but I do know what it's like when roommates have vastly different expectations of one another and of what's normal. That's why setting those ground rules is literally of the utmost importance. Even if you lived together in college and you're now about to be living together in the real world, having that conversation is still necessary. It's all different in the real world.
