When I was a kid, watching as many infomercials as I could, there was always a disclaimer at the end of every commercial that said: "You must be 18 or older to call." As a child who wanted no more than to call up the people at Snuggie to order my very own blanket with sleeves, this was devastating. Why should I, the #1 fan of infomercials, be barred from purchasing a ShamWow solely because I was 9 years old and didn't have a dollar to my name? I had so much time until I turned 18; it seems like a million light-years away.  

Now I'm a lot closer to 18 than I am to 9, and contrary to popular belief, it felt just as adult as I thought it would when I was a kid. A world of freedom opened up to me that was so different than being a kid, and I loved every second of it. Now that I'm in my mid-twenties, I can see the childlike follies of my later teen years, but that doesn't mean I was any less adult.
