Maid-of-honor asks bride to 'tone down' her wedding dress because she 'doesn't want to be overshadowed': 'She went quiet and then said it was “too revealing”'

It's generally agreed that the focus of a wedding is usually the bride, if there is one. It's one of those old-fashioned things that has really stuck around in our culture. People go to weddings because they want to support the couple, but they also go so they can see the dress. It's sort of the focal point of the whole affair, and for good reason. Brides and their families sometimes spend thousands of dollars on them and spend months trying to find the perfect one.

Maybe they've been dreaming about that moment since they were kids, and now it's finally their turn to walk down the aisle. It's a big deal. That said, it's the dress-wearer's choice to wear what they want to wear. Other people might try to influence them or give them advice, but they're not the ones wearing it. It's up to the bride and the bride alone. Plus, she sets the tone for the rest of the party. It's universally understood that you don't want to outshine the bride, especially if you're the maid of honor.

But this maid of honor didn't quite understand that, and wanted to steal some of the bride's spotlight. She was concerned that her sister's dress left too little to the imagination, or at least used that as an excuse to try to get her to change. So the bride took to the internet to see what other folks thought about this interaction.
