Putting a child up for adoption should not be taken lightly. It is not something that you can ever take back, and if you're unsure about the choice, you need to give it more thought. There are some situations where adoption seems to be the only real option. If an expecting mother cannot take care of herself in any meaningful way and requires the care of another adult to function, she should not be a parent. But there are a lot of situations that are borderline. Perhaps a young couple is committed to each other, but they're struggling to make ends meet, let alone support another person. They certainly have some options if they want to be parents. They could get better jobs, move to a cheaper area, or move closer to family to offset some of the costs of child rearing. They have every right to put their child up for adoption if they genuinely think there won't be a way for them to support a baby properly, but all is not lost if they want to be parents and are willing to make a lot of sacrifices to do so.

The birth mom in this story asked her sister to take her baby in because she didn't feel fit, and her sister was aching for a child. Her sister has been his mom for eight wonderful years, but now that the birth mom is in a more stable place, she wants him back. That's not how it works.
