I can't quite tell if the parents made it clear from the start that they would only fully fund an educational path. I can understand why it would seem unfair, then, if she assumed her parents were simply willing to give financial support for any career goal.

Ah, there it is. She isn't very good at it. At least, not enough to impress mom. I think the family can come to some sort of compromise where they aren't completely funding her but can support her in other ways while she pursues her dreams and learns the craft of acting.
