This assistant manager was basically running the entire operation at the store where they worked, handling everything from scheduling to dealing with vendors. Their boss never acknowledged this, thanked them for their efforts, or took any action at all until three years in, when they plucked up the courage to ask for a raise. The boss arrogantly responded with the classic line, "Everyone's replaceable," telling them that if they didn't like what they were being paid, then they should find another job.
