15+ Job interviews full of red flags: 'The manager... showed me YouTube videos for like 30 minutes'

Job interviews can be overwhelming even for the most prepared worker among us. We talk a lot about the ways that job candidates show up unprepared… but sometimes the hiring professionals are just as bad!

Some hiring managers don't know which questions they are and aren't allowed to ask. That is a major part of hiring! For example, you cannot ask someone who looks like he might be a tired father if he has kids. You can't ask anyone their age, if they're married, or if they have any medical issues that aren't pertinent to doing the job. You can get sued super hard if you don't follow those rules. But I guess some of these HR reps aren't afraid to get litigious, because they're happy to ask inappropriate questions of their candidates.

One person shared a modern "oopsie" that a candidate did: she used ChatGPT during the interview! I imagine we'll be seeing a lot more of that in the coming years with people who have no idea why that's the wrong move.

Some people have integrated it into every part of their lives and use it for everything! But you still can't pull that in a job interview… the hiring manager is hiring you, not Chat.
