Some people think the world revolves around them. They don't stop and think that they might not be the center of the universe. They just live their lives thinking that all doors are open for them and they will get whatever they want just because they want it. Usually, the universe humbles these people after a while. They will get a metaphorical slap in the face at some point or another. But sometimes they coast along unscathed because all the people around them are too scared to say anything. It's our responsibility as other people in the world to say something.

It's tough when these types of folks are in your family. You might go your whole life trying to get them to be better, but it doesn't stick. So then you distance yourself from them, but there's a twinge of regret about that, since they're your family. Then a big event like a wedding or a funeral comes along, and there you are, forced to deal with them and their narcissism. That's what happened to one bride in advance of her big day.
