    30-year-old woman saving to buy first home refuses to pay sister’s child’s tuition, now cut off from all nieces and nephews: 'I have zero shame'

    Buying a home as a millennial often feels like chasing a mirage. Every time you get closer, the price tag jumps again. Over the last few decades, housing costs have skyrocketed while wages have barely moved, leaving many of us still renting well into our 30s. And with rent prices climbing higher each year, it's no wonder so many people feel like they'll never be able to afford a house of their own. Saving for a down payment takes years of sacrifice, budgeting, and saying no. Even to family.

College costs have ballooned to the point where families often feel pressured to take out massive loans or lean on each other financially, which can cause a lot of tension. Education is important, but so is financial stability, and sometimes the two clash. Just like in this story.
