Out of all the social trends that have been attributed to the cultural influence of Gen Z, I believe that the desire to be more whimsical is one of the better ones. Per the contemporary social media definition, whimsy involves just a touch of magical thinking—delulu is the solulu, after all—but it is very much grounded in the fact that while reality can be boring and miserable, it is possible to make it better with the right mindset.
