Schools have the ability to make a real positive difference in kids' lives, so why is it that they constantly drop the ball when it comes to their students? The 13-year-old in this next story went to the lost and found at his school in hopes that his lost Apple Airpods were found, but was then "punished" and given a "silent lunch" because students are not supposed to have devices on during school hours. Who said his device was on? The parent who posted the story goes on a warranted rant about school systems mistreating children and going on power trips.
Parents must be able to trust their kids' school's jurisdiction. Without trust, how will any parent ever expect their child to be comfortable in an environment that should function to positively serve them, but does quite the opposite?
If all schools reprimanded their students for asking necessary questions, what's next? Silencing their thoughts and answers to questions, too? A teacher should be a child's academic confidant, but instead, the administration at this 13-year-old's school taught him it's wrong to look to adults for necessary help. What do you think?
