Just because you didn't buy something doesn't mean you didn't earn it. I didn't buy my sense of style. But if somebody tried to steal it, I would be pretty upset. The Wachowski sisters didn't buy the script to their movie The Matrix, but if somebody stole their screenplay and passed it off as their own, I'd imagine they'd be furious. I didn't buy this birthday cake. My mom made it for me. But if a thief stole it from my windowsill, I'd sue. All to say, you're entitled to your own belongings.

This includes frequent flyer miles. You earned them by taking flights and being a loyal customer to a specific airline. You gain them with credit card points, delayed flights, or any other manner. Maybe you didn't buy them outright with your debit card, but they're still yours. You don't have to give them to anyone else. Especially if it's just your friend who wants to go on a beach vacation with her boyfriend. But that didn't stop one woman from asking.
