I do a yearly rewatch of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and I've gotten pretty good at being able to tell which studio animated each episode based off of the animation quality. Most of the filler episodes with clunky, off-model animation (like the fan favorite to hate "The Great Divide") were animated by DR Movie; the more cinematic episodes with trippy spirit world scenes and elaborate fight sequences were produced by JM Animation.
While I've learned to love every episode for what it is and how it contributes to the story, the show is definitely at its best when every frame, from elemental combat scenes to the quiet serenity of a moonlit swamp, are humming with the magic imbued in it by a team of talented artists. It's no wonder that fans across the web have become inspired to make their own jaw-dropping art.
These aren't your average fan doodles, either. The pieces below are detailed, incredibly unique, and downright mesmerising. Don't be surprised if you find yourself tearbending while scrolling through. So, grab some of Uncle Iroh's jasmine tea and settle in to enjoy some fan art that will make you wonder if you ever truly appreciated the beauty of ATLA.
