Gandalf is full of great wisdom. He knows a ton about the magic buried in Middle Earth, he arrives precisely when he means to, and he's really good with pyrotechnics, but there was one thing that Gandalf was amiss about. Buried in snow atop that spindly mountain as Saruman's calls brought down an avalanche, Gandalf thought it would be a stellar idea to let the half-frozen hobbit decide their trajectory. Despite being Fellowshipped with a seemingly omniscient elf, a wilderness-savvy dwarf, and the Ranger in the North, Gandalf followed the advice of Frodo.
"Let the Ring Bearer decide."
Great idea, Gandalf! Let the half-foot who's barely conscious lead us down into the Mines of Moria. Then again, we all know how that turned out.
Here's hoping you have some half-baked ideas like Gandalf the Grey that will turn your Balrog misfortunes into a well-timed resurrection.
