Taking down a bad boss is no easy feat. No matter how much you dislike your boss and think they're good for nothing, you probably won't get them kicked out of their job. I mean, you could go to their boss and complain about them, or you could gather up email evidence that you're actually the one doing 90% of the work around the place.

Still, though, depending on the vibe of that workplace, there's a good chance that the owner will just shrug their shoulders and fire you, the worker who's becoming a thorn in their side, rather than get rid of that pesky boss. For reasons I've never understood, a lot of companies are happy to keep paying a manager who is pretty useless and is widely disliked, and then wonder why turnover is so high at that business. But I'm not a CEO, so I don't have the answers to these questions.

Of course, there are some exceptions to this. Sometimes a manager really is behaving in a way that needs to be addressed with the help of HR. In cases like these, bringing receipts to HR or higher-ups can get that boss fired by the next day. Just ask the people below, who found that out firsthand!
