Tolkien Tuesday: The Best Lord of the Rings Memes This Week (August 12, 2025)

The Lord of the Rings is proof of just how far a strong original text can be carried when it reaches a big enough audience, for better or for worse. Is there any other series of books that has inspired so many different spinoffs (aside from maybe Harry Potter)? At its best, these are magnificent works of art, and at its worst, well, it is best to leave the fandom to do the talking.

Still, it is quite difficult to taint the kingdom of Middle-earth to the extent that its most ardent enthusiasts stop returning to it again and again. Part of the reason for that is that many of them are quite earnest contributors to the LOTR universe themselves, in the form of amusing memes. It is even easier to appreciate the majesty of Tolkien's works when you are constantly being exposed to silly little jokes on the internet about it.
